Son of a Blind Dog

The ocean pushed him to the coastline
Driftin' on luck and a wooden board
The high tide pushed him as he floated along
The waves rocked his body to the shore

Blind dog came sniffin' down the riptide
Runnin' from the pound, from which he fled
He came upon that little boy in bundles
Grabbed him by his rags and ran ahead

He was a son of a blind dog
Son of a blind dog
Son of a blind dog
Son of a blind dog

It makes no difference
If the dog could see at all
Cause he don't know how to care
For another boy

A message on the boy's shoulder
Said, "Someone please care for my son,
Take him as your own, never leave him all alone
Don't deny my boy like I've done."

Blind dog couldn't see, but he could sense that boy
Felt a kind connection from inside
Lost his family too, when his eyes went blind and blue
He couldn't let that poor baby die

It makes no difference
If the boy could choose at all
Cause he don't know how to care
For another dog

The boy grew up on the dog's back
The beach and the junkyard their home
They slept inside a flat-tire dunebug
The boy was his eyes, he was his own

Well the pound should have put down that old dog
The boy should have drowned in the sea
Funny how life keeps you goin'
Until you find your perfect company
